Who is eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI)?
Supplemental Security Income was designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people who have little or no income by providing them with cash so that they can meet their basic need for food, clothing and shelter.
Eligibility for SSI revolves around three factors:
- People who have not worked
- People who have assets of less than $2000 dollars if single and $3000 if married
- People who have a physical or mental impairment
This sounds simple, enough, but in fact obtaining these benefits can be an incredibly complicated, lengthy and confusing process. Most people give up before they achieve their goal. Please do not give up. Whether you are considering filing for SSI or have had a claim denied, we can help. At The Berkley Law Firm, attorney Benjamin H. Berkley and his welcoming support staff offer comprehensive Social Security Income claims representation.

The Social Security Income Eligibility Process
To obtain benefits from this program, you must show that you are unable to work and that you are physically impaired, mentally impaired or otherwise impaired according to a very narrow definition of disability. There may be times when your own doctor says you are disabled but Social Security says that you are not. These are times when we can help.
People who receive SSI can also receive Medi-Cal benefits. Ask your attorney about your eligibility for Medi-Cal.
No Attorneys' Fees Unless We Obtain Benefits For You
We do not charge a fee unless we are able to obtain benefits on your behalf. Our goal is to help as many people as possible get the benefits that they are entitled to under federal law.
